Blood On Paper

In these pages, Poet Victoria Raine takes us on a journey of her deepest, darkest moments, of trials, failures and betrayals. In hopes,
that others not feel so alone through theirs.

You find yourself haunted by the heartache that is almost tangible in these pages, and exhilarated for the triumph over suffering and
adversity.

Through her tribulations her endurance and faith were tested many times over. She shared the beauty in the lessons. The grace
through the pain, and finding an inner strength she did not know she had through the power of perseverance, and ultimately surrendering
to spirit to sort it all out and lead the way.

This book will make you fall back in love with the magic poetry brings into our hearts and enrichment into our lives.

Blood on Paper

Sometimes it’s hard to keep everyone else happy and be happy yourself

Blood on Paper is a tome of realization and a triumph over the chains of sin that bind. It’s about conquering demons and a lifting of burdens. There is poem after poem about victory and the regaining of pride in oneself. The poet inspires the reader to crawl out of his or her comfort zone and rise above challenges. Literally on the cutting edge of despair, the author encapsulates her angst as she faced the darkest days of her life and how she rose above it. Bemoaning a proper father figure, Raine poetically explains the void it created in her life and how she sought to fill that void; however wrong for her. She speaks of her “shadow self” and of past experiences from which she moves on. “Why is it for everyone else that we all try and live,” is one of her passages. Sometimes it’s hard to keep everyone else happy and be happy yourself. Her phrase, “waiting to die or dying to live,” speaks volumes and makes one count his blessings and reminds us to look on the bright side of things. Feeling alone in a crowd, she experiences the same void we all have from time to time. She ponders life deeply and reflects on things coveted and the after effect of acquiring those things. Blood on Paper is about reaching high for your dreams. At times while reading it, the reader might see shades of the Prodigal son, repentant, seeking grace. The book moves from regret to regaining strength and from bitterness to joy. While carrying the reader on this emotion filled journey, Raine does a great job using the senses. There is a real juxtaposition of mistakes and mercy, the Devil’s lies and Divine truth.

Poetry in motion

5star (1)By Alex Valderrama on July 18, 2014

It has been said, “Stick and stones might break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” But for some people words can hurt and make life miserable. Victoria Raines finds a light of hope and courage though writing her deepest thoughts on paper. The words began to move her life forward. When her life seemed so bleak and pointless - instead of ending the suffering and pain with a quick gash to her wrist, she chose to pick up a pen to spill droplets of despair and hopefulness on paper – each phrase she wrote literally took her on an amazing journey of faith - saving her life and healing wounds within her young, tender heart. Blood on Paper may be symbolic in a world of literature, but for a writer, desperate to find a reason to live, Victoria Raine discovered a true inspiration that empowered her to climb out from a hopelessness – somehow each line she wrote revealed a mystery to happiness and a way to leave behind a world filled with grief. People might say it was an epiphany - that may be true, but truer yet, I think it brought her tribulations to a remarkable end. The inspiration to create such powerful poetry was the miracle she needed – for the reader, Blood on Paper is a celebration of life that could very well change the lives of the broken-hearted, in a very poetic way.

Artist’s Review

This beautiful woman was introduced to me at the local author book signing, with Lisa Smith, Co-Author of Unsinkable Soul.
Honored and fortunate to meet her in person and hear her reading - HER words, HER voice....HER heart and soul - spilled out and shared. Many of us can relate to the soul-searching, the pain, the feelings she shares. SHE puts on paper what many hold inside, buried deep....hidden.The reading was beautiful, her words were thought provoking and for me, musical, visual.
Each poem she read...for me...was a song...and I pictured the beauty of sorrow and hope. Literally.
When you read this book - really give yourself space and silence to "experience" it.
Get into the place she describes...really "feel" the feelings.
The way Victoria writes, makes it easy.

Please take the time to read her other reviews - and please SUPPORT Creative Professionals like Victoria Katherine Raine!!!!!!
